“Erika, how do you stay motivated?”

The age-old question: 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅?

The best way I can answer this? Honestly, it’s pretty simple. Put two options on two separate pieces of paper.

1️⃣ one option is everything you’ll experience if you don’t go after your goal… the same old, same old, the disappointment, the staying in the same place year after year, the stagnancy, the mundane and the missing out on what could be.

2️⃣ on the other piece of paper, put down all the possibilities of what could happen if you go after your goal with every fiber in your being. Write down the growth you’ll experience, the better person you’ll become, the wins AND the hardships it took to get there, the lessons, the pride you’ll feel, and yes, play out accomplishing your dream after a lot of hustle and grind.

Now, 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆.

You can’t choose both, only one.

So, how do I stay motivated, you ask? The first option isn’t even an option for me. I refuse to entertain it. It scares me shitless to think option 1 could be my reality. Just no.

I wake up everyday chasing option #2. And that keeps me focused, committed and consistent. I have my hard days, impossible even. But option 2 is worth it to me.

The real question is, which option will you choose? #1 or #2?⚡️ At the end of the day, don’t you deserve #2? I think you do.

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”

— John C. Maxwell

Grit. Persistence. Drive. Intensity. Commitment. Ambition. Strength. Guts. These are all words I deeply resonate with; words that anchor me and often act as a compass in my life.

I want you to know that I have really hard days, too. weeks, rather LOL. That nothing I have has ever come easy. I’ve had to work so hard, sometimes harder than most to just get to level ground. And, I have many battles in my own mind, too, just like you. I’ve been through hell and back, but I still fight and I’m so much better because I chose to never lay down to my life and let my troubles wash over me. On the contrary.

So, again, I want to remind you that you can posses all of those things too. You want grit? Stand up and fight. You want drive? Find your inner motivation, your why. You want to be a person who commits and finishes the job? Then start keeping your word to yourself and DECIDE you’re over your own bullshit.

Life’s handed you a bad hand of cards? Well, what do you wanna do about it? Take back your power and remember that you’re more capable than you know. No matter where you’ve been, you can decide to build again.

Decide today.

I’m rooting for you. xoxo
