Excess oil. Breakouts. Battling sweat. Dryness. Does any of this ring a bell when it comes to your skin during the summertime?
If you’re struggling with your summer skin, you’re not alone. As your complexion adjusts to the hot weather, give it a hand by incorporating a few simple steps in your daily skincare routine. Let’s explore!
1. Exfoliate For Healthy Skin.
Start using a nontoxic face scrub 1-2x a week to remove excess oil and dead skin cells from. And don’t forget to exfoliate your lips and neck, too! Need a scrub suitable for your skin type? Message me and I’ll send you info on my favorite line, perfect for your exact skin needs.
2. Oily? Start Using A Toner.
Face toners are pros at minimizing and closing your open pores. To say goodbye to clogged pores from sweat and excess oil this summer, use a gentle toner, specifically on your t-zone where most of our sebaceous glands are found.
3. Moisturize, Always.
Regardless of your skin type – acne prone, oily or super dry – a good quality moisturizer is key this time of year. Choose a non-greasy formula full of natural oils, like fruit oils.
4. Invest In Vitamin C.
Did you know that a great Vitamin C serum can help prevent hyperpigmentation, improve the appearance of fine lines, and can help aid collagen production? It’s a no-brainer this time of year. Plus, my fav smells amazing, too. Simply layer a few drops on your skin between your face cleanser and your moisturizer.
5. Keep Your Skincare Cool.
Most skincare products should be stored somewhere between 45 and 50 degrees. This temp maintains ideal consistency of your products and helps eliminate the risk of growth of bacteria, mold and yeast. It also decreases the risk of accelerated deactivation of active ingredients and preservatives (Hadley King, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist & clinical instructor of dermatology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University)
*BONUS TIP*
Stick To Noncomedogenic Makeup.
Noncomedogenic makeup is another term for makeup that is formulated without pore-clogging ingredients. Which is so essential during the summertime! Be sure your cosmetics are as oil-free and lightweight as possible, especially your primer and foundation.
