Simple, Effective Skincare Tips

I wanted to drop a few helpful tips on what I do to protect my skin. This month especially, it’s so key to implement just a few helpful products into your routine! As the weather gets hotter and hotter, and you spend more and more time outdoors, protecting your skin is so important.

3 SKINCARE MUSTS.

First things first, let’s cover the basics. Whether you live in the south and it’s gorgeous 11 out of 12 months, or you call the Arctic Circle home, these items are an absolute must when you’re outdoors:

Sunscreen. Yup, year-round. “Even on cloudy days, up to 80 percent of the sun’s harmful UV rays can penetrate your skin. Snow, sand, and water increase the need for sunscreen because they reflect the sun’s rays” (www.aad.org).

Sunglasses. Sunglasses not only protect your eyes from harmful rays and help prevent eye conditions like cataracts, they also protect the super thin skin around your eyes, which is so important. Nobody needs unnecessary crow’s feet if we can help it, am I right?

A hat. While this seems obvious, it’s easy to forget to shade your hair from getting bleached out from the sun. If you just paid $150- $300+ for your last appointment, protect that investment! Also, it’s easy for your head to burn in the direct sunlight, too, and concerning moles can hide really easily on your scalp.

SKINCARE TOOLS.

Now let’s talk skincare tools. I’ve been a skincare snob for over a decade. Ever since I got off birth control and my skin freaked out… taking care of my skin has become one of my top life priorities. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve done pretty much every skin treatment you can think of, and I have a vast collection of skincare devices… some that were worth the money, others not so much.

Here are the skincare tools that made the cut:

• A good quality jade eye mask – one that de-puffs and cools

• MONAT’s facial bar massager – helps with product absorption and lymphatic drainage. Unfortunately, this was a limited time only release. You snooze, you lose.

• Gua sha – sculpts, lifts and drains lymph fluid. A MUST HAVE!

• A high frequency wand – zaps breakouts and kills bacteria. Must use with a cheesecloth barrier tho! don’t use directly on skin.

• Poosh LED light shield – it has a red setting (for inflammation), blue setting (for acne), and amber setting (for discoloration).

LAST BUT NOT LEAST. MY GO-TO RETINOL ALTERNATIVE.

I just cannot mention skincare without bringing up my fav retinol. Prior to using this magic product, I’d been using traditional retinols for yearsssss… it’s kind of my guilty pleasure because I know there can be really questionable ingredients that don’t really go with my holistic lifestyle. But the truth is, I’ve always loved the benefits. I’m not perfect, never claimed to be.

But now – I don’t have to question the ingredients in my retinol! The Botanic Bakuchiol is a gentler alternative to traditional retinol. It has anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial properties, and has long been used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine.

The Botanic Bakuchiol also:

✨ helps to reduce the appearance of age spots

✨ improves skin tone and texture

✨ reduces wrinkles and fine lines

✨ non-irritating, works even for sensitive skin types

✨ provides 24 hour hydration

✨ safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mama’s

When I say I know my skincare products, trust me, I have done research on products for years. Give some of these amazing products a try this month and see what they can do for your skin. Have questions? That’s what I’m here for.
