5 summertime beauty do’s & don’ts

The past few weeks have been filled with so much time spent outdoors, from soaking up the sun in our backyard with our dogs and a great book (I’m almost done with ‘Atomic Habits’), to afternoons with friends at the pool. If you’re a warm weather person like I am, there is no better feeling than this time of year, am I right? How’s your summer been so far, friend? Drop me a DM and let me know.

Before you enjoy your (hopefully gorgeous) new week, I wanted to share some helpful info on beating the heat this August. Let’s dive in!

5 SUMMERTIME BEAUTY DO’s & DON’Ts:

01. DO THIS: Protect your skinvestment. If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you take your skincare routine seriously. Which is why it’s so key to protect yourself from the harsh UVA and UVB rays of the sun this month. Don’t let all your serums, moisturizers and cleansers be for nothing by frying your beautiful face! A high-quality, reef safe, non-oily sunscreen is the way to go.

02. DO THIS: Consider adding a vitamin c serum to your lineup. A vitamin c serum offers your complexion a combo of powerful antioxidants to help brighten and enhance your skintone. My favorite absorbs fast and quickly works to create a healthy, youthful-looking glow. Easily reduce the appearance of dark spots and blemish marks this summer.

03. DO THIS: Don’t forget about giving your lips some TLC, too. When I run out of my MONAT CBD lip salve, my go-to lip product is from Summer Fridays. I can’t stand chapped lips, especially in the warmer weather.

04. DO THIS: Use a hair sunscreen created specifically to protect your color (cc: MONAT’s Color Locking + Protective Spray). Avoid the temptation to use any sun-lightening sprays that are activated with harsh ammonia and peroxide. In other words, step away from the Sun-In, sis.

05. DO THIS: Stay moisturized, even if you’re super oily. A big misconception is that oily, acne prone skin doesn’t need a moisturizer. “Moisturizers don’t add water to your skin, but rather help hold the water in the outer layer of your skin to keep it hydrated… Moisturizers contain ingredients called humectants, which draw the water into your skin, and emollients, which form a protective film and trap the water in the skin” (PC Dermatology).
