My room has always been one of my favorite spots. It’s a relaxing space that allows me to decompress after our busy days. I crave calm, and that’s why I created a space that reflects serenity.
After having Dawson, I was even more thankful for a peaceful space. We spent 90% of our time in my bed during those early newborn days. It was so important that this be a place that radiates tranquility and comfort.
As I type this, I can’t help but feel excited about designing the bedrooms for our cabin and our new home. I am sharing this space with you today and hope to help you create a serene environment in your home.
An essential piece to creating a relaxing space is setting the mood. I do this by incorporating a no-phone rule, using a diffuser with my favorite oils, and displaying soft lighting. The outside world is so loud, and these simple routines help drown out the stress.
Another crucial part of creating a quiet environment is getting rid of the clutter. We all have way more “stuff” than we need, and getting rid of it is freeing. Make sure your space is clear of all your extra things. The decor that I have is simple, texturized, and in a soft color palette. My favorite decor items include my olive trees, ivory wool rug, and gold Arhaus mirror. I love how these pieces complement one another. I added this curtain rod with blackout curtains which I feel complete the room. After all, if we are getting our best sleep, blackout curtains are a must!
Our bed matches the aesthetic perfectly, and it’s so comfortable! Our bedding is from Parachute, and I cannot say enough good things. Investing in good bedding is vital! It lasts forever, and the quality is incredible. In addition to our bedding, every bed needs this blanket. I love it so much that we have one in every room! I bought these euro pillows, a lumbar pillow, and this giant Shepard pillow to add dimension. The Shepard pillow really completes the look and adds a pop of texture!
In the corner of our room, we have an armchair that I used to love to read. After having Dawson, it became a great place to nurse or rock him. Lastly, our dresser is from Pottery Barn, and the drawers are huge! We don’t have a lot of clutter, but we do have a lot of clothes. So this piece has come in handy!
As you can see, you don’t need a lot of stuff to make your space calm and relaxing. My number one tip in designing a room that radiates peace is incorporating a soft color palette, adding different textures, and making sure it brings you joy! Remember, less is more.
This post was one of my favorites to share, so stay tuned for many more decorating blogs. What room would you like to see next?
