Today we are diving into one of my favorite topics that can transform your life and business: creating a digital product.
If you’re listening to this episode, you’re already taking the first step toward building an incredible digital offer, and I’m here to guide you through the process!
Setting yourself up for success from day one can make ALL the difference when you go to launch your offer, so let’s dive into your starter kit!
Why Digital Products?
Digital products are a fantastic way to generate passive income. Once you create a digital product, it’s done! You can set up a system to automate sales, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your business while the income rolls in. I’ve personally turned low-ticket digital offers into an additional $10,000 to $20,000 per month in revenue, and I want to show you how to do the same.
To help you get started, I’ve created a comprehensive starter kit that walks you through every step of the process. Whether you’re a fitness coach, graphic designer, or photographer, this kit will help you leverage your skills and experience to create a profitable digital product.
What is a Digital Product?
A digital product can take many forms, including:
- PDF downloads
- Ebooks
- Recorded or live masterclasses
- Templates
- Checklists
The key is to provide something that your audience can easily access to help them achieve a transformation. I like to refer to this as the “minimum viable offer,” which is essentially the first step in helping someone solve a problem.
Real-Life Examples
Let’s look at some examples of digital products created by my students:
- Acne Starter Guide: One of my students, a holistic practitioner, created a guide to help clients identify triggers for acne. This guide educates readers on the internal factors that contribute to acne, emphasizing that it’s not just about topical treatments.
- Photography Guide: A photographer friend of mine developed a guide on shooting in direct lighting. This specific focus has helped many photographers improve their skills in challenging lighting conditions.
- Recipe Guides: Several moms and home cooks have created recipe guides and sourdough starter kits, catering to those looking for healthy and budget-friendly meal options.
These examples illustrate that there’s a vast array of possibilities when it comes to digital products. The first step is to identify your unique skill set and how you can package it into a valuable offer.
Identifying Your Niche
To create a successful digital product, you need to know who you’re serving. Ask yourself:
- Who needs what you’re offering?
- What specific problem are you solving?
- What is the desired outcome for your audience?
It’s crucial to target a specific audience that has the means to pay for your product. For instance, if you’re creating a guide for overwhelmed parents, you need to define what aspect of parenting they’re struggling with. The more specific you are, the better your chances of success.
Crafting Your Message
Your messaging is vital to your success. It’s not enough to say, “I have something great to sell.” You need to communicate clearly how your product will change lives.
I often refer to the “struggle-solution-sold” scenario, where you identify a struggle, present your solution, and make it irresistible for your audience to say, “Yes, I want that!”
When crafting your message, consider:
- The benefits your product provides
- Your credibility and experience
- Testimonials or case studies from previous clients
By addressing these points, you’ll create a compelling narrative that resonates with your audience.
Setting Up for Success
Creating a digital product that generates real income requires a combination of a good offer, effective messaging, and a solid system. Here’s how to set yourself up for success:
- Create a Sales System: You need a platform to deliver your product and process sales. I recommend using Stan, a user-friendly platform that allows you to sell digital products, build your email list, and even create funnels.
- Marketing Your Product: How will people find your offer? I primarily use Instagram to promote my products through organic content. Engaging with your audience and providing value will help drive traffic to your sales page.
- Automate Your Sales: The goal is to create a system that allows you to make sales without being present for every transaction. This is where passive income comes into play, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see sales notifications while you’re busy doing other things.
