Protect Your Peace

In today’s world, it is all too easy to be exposed to the opinions of others, both good and bad. The internet has made it easier than ever for people to express their opinions, and this can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it is great to be able to connect with people from around the world and share ideas. On the other hand, it can be difficult to deal with the negativity and criticism that can come from these interactions. It’s important to remember that it is okay to protect your peace at all costs. When it comes to dealing with internet trolls and haters, they are usually projecting their own insecurities and unhappiness onto you. Have sympathy for them, but also to be aware of the boundaries you need to set in order to protect your peace, and take actions such as: Remember: the opinions of others, whether positive or negative, do not define you. You are the only one who has the power to define yourself, which could be through self-care activities such as yoga, journaling, or listening to music. YOU are in control of your own happiness and peace… not the trolls.

Treat Others with Kindness

The world of social media has changed the way we interact with one another, and something we are very passionate about is to always treat others with kindness. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that behind every account is a real person with real feelings, and the way we interact with others online reflects who we are as people. If someone is being cruel or disrespectful online, it is COMPLETELY okay to block them or ignore them. We do not owe anyone an explanation for our behavior online! We should also be mindful that if we are sending a message to someone, we should also be prepared to receive a response. Don’t be quick to dish out criticism without being willing to take it! We are all flawed, and everyone makes mistakes. While it IS important to hold people accountable for their behavior, it’s equally important to do so in a respectful and kind manner. Always be kind to one another, even if we do not agree. We fully believe it IS possible to have healthy conversations online if both people are willing!

Good Food Attracts Haters

Erika’s parents used to own one of the BEST restaurants in their town in Pennsylvania, and despite their great reputation, their food still had a good amount of criticism online. The point is: whether you’re a cook in the restaurant industry, a fitness instructor, or someone who is building an online brand, you will likely receive some criticism. This is because when someone is doing something that others want to do, but don’t have the courage to do, they may become jealous and lash out. The criticism we receive is often a reflection of the criticizer, not us. They may be jealous of our success, or feel like we are growing past them. No one above you is going to criticize, as they understand how hard it is to put yourself out there. When you’re doing something important with your life, the Jealous Jenny’s (yes, we just made that up) will always show themselves. Simply put your blinders on, stay positive, and keep going.

Don’t Try to Please Everyone

It is impossible to please everyone, and trying to do so will only lead to frustration and disappointment. Instead, focus on creating value for your followers and being your authentic self online. There will always be people who do not like us or our work, and that’s okay! Try not to take it personally, but rather use it as an opportunity to learn and grow. If you’ve been following us for a while, it probably won’t surprise you to know that we believe having mental toughness is key to navigating difficult situations. Don’t be afraid to stand up for what we believe in and to speak our truth. By doing this, we can stay positive and enjoy life, no matter what other people may say or do.
