I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Gelatin is a superfood! It has SO many health benefits such as:
-
-thyroid supporting
-
contain anti-inflammatory amino acids
-
helps to improve digestion
-
supports detoxification
-
improves skin health
-
nourishes your adrenals
-
loaded with minerals
-
supports a healthy gut
…and the list goes on! These gummies are a staple in our home and have been great in helping us nourish our bodies. We love to eat them with our meals to help support digestion.
Ok, now for the recipe!
Ingredients:
-
4 cups fruit juice – I used Lakewood organic mango juice blend, never from concentrate
-
2 tbsp raw honey (I use @beekeepers_naturals)
-
pinch of sea salt (I use @crucialfour)
-
1/4 cup grass-fed bovine gelatin (@perfectsupplements is a great brand)
To make:
-
Put 1 cup of juice in a separate bowl and sprinkle gelatin on top to “bloom”. Meanwhile, heat up the remaining juice in a saucepan over medium heat and add honey and salt. Heat the juice until hot, not boiling.
-
Mix up the gelatin mixture so that it’s thick in consistency, then add it to the saucepan and mix until smooth. Remove from heat.
-
Grease a 9×9 pan with coconut oil and pour your gummy mixture into the pan. Place in the fridge to cool until set. Then, cut into desired shapes and store in the fridge, covered.
These are delicious and simple to make. You can play around with different flavors by trying different juices or purées.
I often get asked about the way we eat and where I get these recipes. Years ago, I read the book “How to Heal your Metabolism” by Kate Deering and began implementing changes in my life that benefited my health. I cannot recommend this book enough. It’s been life-changing!
